North Attleborough Civil War Memorial
Military
4
During the Civil War from 1861 to 1865, the men of North Attleborough were honored for their loyalty to country, self-sacrifice, and heroism in fighting to preserve the Union. Their service was linked to a continuing obligation of loyalty, with the country’s safety resting on the intelligence, moral character, and patriotism of its citizens. On the town common, the first company of men from the town who answered the call to arms in defense of the Republic in 1861 drilled, attended church services there on Sunday, June 2nd, and the next day marched from that place to join their regiment.
