This memorial honors the men and women from Monterey and surrounding communities who died so that others might enjoy liberty and freedom, including Gordon Klope in World War I; Aubrey Andrews, George Bilbrey, Marvin O. Boswell, Andy V. Buckner, Andy W. Clark, Oree Coleman, John H. Grant, William R. Horn, Joe C. Isbell, Hollis Jernigan, Hollis A. Jones, David F. France, Regan Ledbetter, Beecher C. Milligan, Clarence Stringer, Talmadge Sutton, Ralph Testement, Oscar M. Verble, and Eugene W. Roberts in World War II; George C. Clark, Jr., Ernest L. Flatt, Jerry M. Hall, William J. Lusk, Van B. Nickens, Jr., Paul E. Vaden, and Joseph M. Walker among those who died as a result of accidents during World War Two and later; James C.R. Lewis in Korea; Calvin A. Norris in Vietnam; Luke Williams in Iraqi Freedom; and Alex van Aalten in Operation Enduring Freedom.
