Pam Callahan loved all aspects of nature and felt a special connection to these wetlands. She led a community effort to prevent the site from becoming a dense development, fighting for almost 3 years and never giving up. Despite difficult odds, she proved wrong those who doubted that such a fight could be won. Her success in stopping the developer allowed the land to remain pristine and available for ELAPP purchase. Though she did not live to see her dream become reality, her name is forever linked to this land, and the community and future generations owe her a debt of gratitude.
