In the rear of Bobby's Coffee Shop at 2272 Honolulu, later known as Edic's Cafe, a special room with a small table became a gathering place where local merchants and city employees ate and discussed the topic of the day, which in the late 40s and early 50s was the annexation of Montrose by the city of Glendale. Because of the heated political discussions there, waitress Bertha "Berty" Poole had a neon sign reading "Little City Hall" erected over the door of the back room. In 1968, Berry bought Edie's and renamed it "Edie's City Hall Coffee Shop," and when she moved to the current location, she dropped "Edie's."
