Mt. Wilson in the San Gabriel Mountains is home to a world-famous astronomical research facility founded in 1904. Special atmospheric conditions in the San Gabriel Valley create an ideal environment for observing the sun and stars from the mountains. The observatory is home to the 100-inch telescope that Edwin Hubble used to prove that the Milky Way is only one of millions of galaxies in an ever-expanding universe.
