Theodorick Pryor Campbell was one of Virginia’s noted educators who served Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College and Polytechnic Institute in a variety of positions with untiring zeal and energy, including as Professor of Modern Languages from 1889 to 1928, Co-President Pro Tempore from 1905 to 1906, Dean of the Faculty from 1913 to 1920, and Dean of the College from 1920 to 1924. He was also a charter member of the college chapter of Phi Kappa Phi, received an honorary LLD degree from Hampton-Sydney College, and organized the first Presbyterian Sunday School in Blacksburg.
