This #3 bell was manufactured by C.S. Bell Company of Hillsboro, Ohio in 1886. Jonathan Heaton brought the bell to Moccasin on 23 July 1902. On 24 July 1902, he mounted it on the shed west of the Big House. Its crystal metal alloy gave a pleasant, far-reaching tone, and it was rung again and again to call family to dinner, school, church, and other special occasions. Though now silent, it has stood the test of time as a symbol of lasting traditions that called Jonathan's family together in the past and for generations to come.
