Built in 1916 by West Point Mfg. Co. as Fairfax Union Church, this white clapboard church was shared by Disciples of Christ, Methodist, and Baptist congregations until the Disciples of Christ purchased it after the others left to build their own churches and renamed it Fairfax First Christian Church. Built in the shape of a cross, it features hammered-glass windows in the shape of Moses' tablets, and its original pews designed to match the windows, windows, pulpit, exposed hand-hewn interior beams, and interior design remain in use. An addition was built in 1952. It was designated a historic landmark by the Alabama Historical Commission in 1992 and the Valley City Council in 1993. Founding ministers were Rev. S. P. Speigel, pastor of West Point Christian Church, and Rev. Dan Joiner, pastor of Lanett Christian Church. Charter members included Mr. and Mrs. R.E. Smith, Sr.; Mrs. R. V. Combs; Mr. Charlie Floyd; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Norred; Mrs. Donzell Norred; Mr. and Mrs. H. Pigg; Judge Marion Brown; Mr. Walter Williams; Mr. Watkins; and Mrs. Pearl Dunn. The church building is part of the original Fairfax mill village design, which included worker houses, a general store, a school, a water-sewage system, and railroad passenger and freight service.
