Harwich honored the men of the community who made the supreme sacrifice in World War I and World War II. Those remembered from World War I were Valmer H. Bassett, Clarence L. Berry, J. Wilton Berry, Earle M. Chase, Leslie M. Clark, Scott C. Nickerson, and Josiah D. Nickerson. Those remembered from World War II were Raymond A. Arsenault, Donald H. Barrett, George R. Dreher, Watson B. Eldridge, Jr., Robert H. Magathlin, Robert V. Paine, and Clarence C. Peters. The memorial was dedicated in 1948.
