YMCA #2 opened on September 29, 1921, in a building that had previously housed the superintendent's lunchroom, serving minority employees of Colorado Fuel and Iron Company and their families. Along with the larger "Steel Y," opened by the company in 1920 west of Abriendo Avenue, it formed part of the company's YMCA facilities, while YMCA #2 also became a community center for Pueblo's African-American population. In 1934, the Mary Bethune Club was established there to seek solutions to social and economic problems in the community and to take part in state and national issues involving minorities. In later years, the building housed Colorado Fuel and Iron Company's Industrial Relations, Public Relations, and Employee Benefits Departments before it was demolished in 1975 to make room for a parking lot.
