During World War II, Joseph Chiles, Jesus Covarrubias, Eugene Dawson, Richard Dose, Walter Hunt, Dick Lynde, Joseph Mettam, and Pedro Osorio of Solana Beach were remembered, and in 1948 Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Dose donated this memorial in loving memory of their son Richard, with sponsorship by Solana Del Rancho American Legion Post No. 806.
