Dinosaur Journey Museum in Fruita, Colorado, presents the paleontological story of western Colorado through interactive exhibits built around the region’s fossil discoveries. It houses more than 15,000 fossil specimens and includes a visible paleontology lab where dinosaur bones are prepared for display, letting visitors observe part of the scientific process. Family-oriented activities include making dinosaur tracks in a sandbox and excavating real Jurassic dinosaur bones in a quarry-style area. Closely tied to the fossil-rich landscape around Fruita, it serves as both an educational museum and a hands-on introduction to local prehistoric life. A predecessor, the Fruita Museum, was built in 1938–39 as a Works Progress Administration project.
