Little Laurel Branch is a protected wildland in the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests of far western Virginia near the Kentucky line, beside Breaks Interstate Park. It includes part of the Breaks of Pine Mountain, where resistant rock, steep wooded slopes, cliffs, and fallen sandstone blocks created a rugged landscape marked by the Towers and a stretch of Russell Fork considered eligible for the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System. The area is also biologically important, supporting rare and threatened plants and specialized cliff habitats. Although valued for its scenic and ecological character, it has also seen logging impacts, limited access, and gas development despite some conservation-oriented land classifications.
