Built in 1895 by the Jacksonville Lodge, Grand United Order of Odd Fellows, this building served black children of the community as Jacksonville School until 1936. Grades 1-7, taught by two teachers, met in two first-floor classrooms without electricity or running water. The Jacksonville Lodge, a black fraternal organization, met on the second floor for many years under the leadership of Rev. Robert L. Mabry, who also served as pastor of nearby Storm Branch Baptist Churches from 1898 to 1943. The Jacksonville Community Commission acquired and renovated the building in 1991-92.
