At Hanna Coal Company's #10 Mine, an explosion ripped through the Willow Grove Mine on March 16, 1940, resulting in the deaths of 72 Ohio Valley men from Bannock, Bellaire, Belmont, Bridgeport, Fairpoint, Glencoe, Lafferty, Maynard, Midway, Neffs, Provident, St. Clairsville, Stewartsuille, Warnock, and Willow Grove.
