In July 1975, the Bicentennial wagon train passed here during its 3,000 mile trek retracing the pioneer wagon trails that settled the West. Commemorating the nation's 200th birthday, the train began at the U.S. Canadian Peace Arch in Blaine, Washington, on June 9, 1975. Wagons from every state would join it along the way for a final encampment at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, for a Bicentennial celebration on July 4, 1976.
