William Atkinson Jones lived from March 21, 1849, to April 17, 1918, served in the United States Congress from Virginia's First District from 1890 to 1918, and was the author of the Philippine Independence Bill of 1916. His memory was honored on June 20, 1926, through a gift from a grateful Filipino people.
