Greenleaf United Methodist Church was established after the original church was purchased from C. B. Hendricks for $250.00 in July 1925, and Ira T. and Fredericka Howard deeded property for the site on December 24, 1925. Its first service was the Christmas Program on Christmas Day 1925, and the church was dedicated on April 18, 1926. The beginning of Sunday School was dedicated on December 29, 1935. A Bazaar and Chicken Supper began in September 1934 and continued until the final Church Supper in October 1987. The United Methodist Women organized in 1929 and continued as a mission-oriented group of faithful and committed members. Rev. I.J. Sheldon, serving from 1924 to 1929, was the first pastor, Pastor Mary Ann Sheldon served at the time of closing, and twenty-eight pastors served the church through the years. Celebrations marked the seventy-fifth anniversary on September 16, 2001, and the eighty-fifth anniversary on September 18, 2011. The closing worship service was held on May 27, 2012, with a meal served and District Superintendent Bob Ruedebusch returning to preach where he had received God's call to ministry. The church's mission statement was: "Share! Christ's invitation to be part of His Family; Study! To grow in our faith and equip us for service; Send! Christ's love to a hurting people and hurting world."
