Zion Church was one of the earliest Methodist churches in the Orangeburg area. Its original building, constructed before the Civil War, was replaced in the 1880s. About 1843, appointed ministers replaced circuit riders there. In the early 1930s, it was abandoned as a full time church when its members moved to nearby Cope and Orangeburg.
