Built in 1894 by the widow of Preston B. Plumb, a founder of Emporia, this house was later given to the Emporia Y.W.C.A. by their daughters Mary, Ruth, and Caroline. The Senator Preston B. Plumb and Carrie S. Plumb House, built circa 1894, was placed on the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior, and the property is also identified as listed on the National Register circa 1895.
