White Plains honored the soldiers who died in the service of their country in the Civil War, 1861-1865. Erected on July 4, 1872, by their late comrades and the town of White Plains, the memorial names men from units including the 6th New York Heavy Artillery, 67th New York Infantry, 7th New York Heavy Artillery, 27th New York Infantry, 48th New York Infantry, 164th New York Infantry, 95th New York Infantry, 16th New York State Yeomanry, 1st Mounted Rifles, and 9th New York Infantry, among them 1st Lieutenant Horton R. Platt, Sergeant Andrew M. Bocart, Corporal Francis Breckels, Frank Bleakley, Joseph T. Hatfield, Daniel O. Creeno, Abraham S. Dobbs, Simeon See, Victor M. Collins, Thomas G.S. Yerks, Patrick Burns, Stephen Odell, William O’Brien, Adam Fowler, 2nd Lieutenant George F. Rysdyk, Corporal Richard Shampnois, William Dibble, Jesse Hoyt, Azariah Horton, Michael Donovan, Abijah Wilcox, Frederick Y. Fountain, George Weeks, Christopher Pausch, Henry Alexander, and Samuel Lyon.
