Steel recovered from the World Trade Center after September 11, 2001 is displayed in honor and remembrance of 2,752 victims, including 343 New York City firefighters, 37 Port Authority police officers, and 23 New York City police officers. It also remembers the 40 victims on Flight 93 in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, and the 125 victims at the Pentagon. The Flag of Heroes is created from the names of the emergency services personnel who gave their lives to save others in the terrorist attacks of 9/11, and it represents their immortality now and forever with the promise that they will never be forgotten.
