Citizens of Charlestown, with the cooperation of the Union Historical Society of Charlestown, New Hampshire, and Springfield, Vermont, and of the Society of Colonial Wars in the State of New Hampshire, set this boulder here to mark the site of the old fort built in 1743. It was dedicated on August 30, 1904, the 158th anniversary of the Indian raid.
