Fields Spring State Park is an 828-acre public recreation area in southeastern Washington near the Idaho and Oregon borders. Developed through local efforts and New Deal labor, it was helped into being by the local Isaac Walton League and early construction by the Works Progress Administration. Set in high country near Puffer Butte, it is prized for expansive views across the Wallowa Mountains and the Grande Ronde and Snake River basins. The park offers camping, picnicking, athletic fields, and trails for hiking, biking, and cross-country skiing, and it once also supported alpine skiing with a private rope tow in the late 1950s and early 1960s.
