The Yuba County Water Agency completed Bullards Bar Dam in 1969 under Federal Power Commission license No. 2246 to provide electrical power, irrigation, recreation, and flood control at a cost of $180,000,000. Located on the Tahoe and Plumas National Forests, the dam forms a 15 mile long reservoir with a shoreline of 53 miles, a surface area of 7 square miles, and a maximum depth of 620 feet. Recreation facilities around the reservoir were constructed by the Yuba County Water Agency under provision of the Davis-Grunsky Act, and Yuba County operates one boat ramp while the U.S. Forest Service operates the other facilities.
