During the Confederate States of America's invasion of Kentucky that resulted in the battle of Perryville, General Leonidas Polk’s wing moved through here on Sept. 16, 1862, to attack United States of America troops at Munfordville. Two Kentucky raids by Confederate States of America General John Hunt Morgan’s cavalry also passed through here, on July 10 and Dec. 25, 1862. During the second raid, a skirmish here failed to retard the Confederate States of America.
