At this point, formally known as "The Hook," a fierce engagement took place on 3rd October 1781 between British forces under the command of Tarleton and Continentals under the command of Lauzun. This was the last engagement of the opposing forces before the surrender of General Cornwallis at Yorktown on 19th October 1781.
