Hotel Central at 57 W. Mill Street was reported complete in the August 3, 1911 edition of the Bayfield Blade. It originally had wood clapboard siding, a wood shingle roof, and a covered first-floor front porch. By the 1940s, the exterior was stuccoed and the roof was asphalt shingles, and a two-story porch later replaced the original single-story porch. Akers Motor Co. Garage at 17 W. Mill Street was constructed during the spring and summer of 1920 as a reconstruction of an earlier building destroyed by fire on January 1, 1920. The building originally operated as Akers Garage and also housed a community meeting and recreation hall on the second floor. It appears much as it did when originally constructed in the early twentieth century.
