Built in 1912 as the George Dickenson Grocery Store owned by Frank and George Dickenson, this red clay brick building was constructed with 12-inch-thick walls, 1-inch iron rods tying the structure together to hold the second story in place, and wood-burning fireplaces for heat. The Inverness Post Office occupied the building from 1915 to 1937, with Mary “Mollie” Pridgen serving as postmaster until 1936, when Joseph P. Savary was appointed. Richburg Grocery Store operated on the first floor from 1939 to 1942, while George Marion and Edna Richburg lived on the second floor. From 1942 to 1945, the Conrad-Morris Funeral Home was housed here, and its owner, Coy Conrad, served as Mayor of Inverness from 1941 to 1943. O. Frank Scofield and Charles S. Reed owned the building from 1946 to 1954, after which Carl Ogden and Carey Smoak purchased it and operated Concrete Products, a building construction business. Carey Smoak and Jack White later ran their general building contracting business, Smoak and White, here from 1968 to 1997. Hometown brothers Tim and John Channell then purchased the building and opened Accents by Grace, which operated from 1999 until 2006. The Ice Cream Doctor opened here in January 2007 and had been in operation for five years at that time.
