Escambia County's veterans memorial was built by the people of Escambia County and dedicated on November 11, 1987, honoring the county's men and women who served their country in war and peace. Its inscriptions include the words "Duty Honor Country" and the biblical passage "These stones shall be to the people...a memorial forever" from Joshua 4:7. It also names Medal of Honor recipients Sidney E. Manning from World War I and William W. Seay from Vietnam, killed in action.
