Chinese Peak in Bannock County, Idaho, is the highest point in the Pocatello Range, a part of the Portneuf Range, with a summit of 6,791 feet that ranks 1,069th in the state. The mountain serves as a fire lookout site, and both a road and bike trail reach the top, making it readily accessible. Its present name grew from a local story dating to the 1890s about a Chinese man who reportedly died near the summit. After controversy over an earlier name containing an ethnic slur, the Geographic Names Information System officially adopted the name Chinese Peak in 2001.
