Dr. Arenia Mallory, born in 1904 and dying in 1977, was a native of Jacksonville, Illinois, a graduate of Jackson State University and the University of Illinois, and the recipient of a Ph.D. from Bethune-Cookman College. In 1926, she came to Lexington, where she and Bishop Charles H. Mason, founder of the Church of God in Christ, established the Saints Industrial and Literary School, Saints Academy and Junior College. A noted educator, civic leader, and churchwoman, she retired as president of Saints Academy and Junior College in 1976.
