St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church was the first Roman Catholic church in present Baltimore County, founded in 1822. It stood one and one half miles southeast of Sweet Air and one half mile northeast of Manor Road. The building was destroyed by fire on February 25, 1855, and the parish relocated to its present site, where the first Mass was offered on December 30, 1855.
