On the second Monday of September 1795, the County Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions of Blount County first met two miles west at the home of Abram Wear. William Wallace was chairman, John McKee was clerk, and Littlepage Sims was sheriff. Nine justices attended the first meeting.
