Bassel School was constructed in 1923 to provide a new school for children in the Bassel community, and the new school was dedicated February 1, 1924. The school contained eight grades. In the 1945-1946 school year, Bassel third and fourth grade students presented the operetta Who Stole the Tarts? In the 1944-1945 school year, fifth grade students Franklin Borden and Kenneth Hagerty were pictured with their teacher, Dorothy Dockter, on the steps of Bassel School.
