The Schriner Log House originally stood in Reed Township of Seneca County. Francis Xavier Schriner built the house in the early 1870's. It was originally a two-room home. When it was dismantled and moved in 1980, it was rebuilt as a one-room log house, and the stone chimney and fireplace were added at that time. Its walls were white-washed, using a mixture of lime and salt, to help reflect light in an otherwise dark cabin.
