Built by Henry Kohler, a pioneer merchant and miner born in Germany in 1825, this building is associated with his move from Indiana to Washington in 1854, his years of mining until 1881, and his later operation of a general merchandise store that supplied groceries, hardware, and miners supplies to the area.
