Cauley Square is a historic village in Goulds in southern Miami, Florida, built in 1903 by William H. Cauley on 10 acres as a small railway settlement connected to Henry Flagler’s Florida East Coast Railway. Its buildings housed railway workers and supported Cauley’s tomato business, with winter produce shipped north by rail. Abandoned after the Great Miami Hurricane of 1926, it stood vacant for more than 20 years until Mary Anne Ballard bought and restored it in 1949. Damaged again by Hurricane Andrew in 1992 and by Hurricanes Katrina and Wilma in 2005, it was repeatedly restored and recognized by Miami-Dade County as a historic site in 1994.
