Coheelee Creek Covered Bridge, near Hilton in southwest Georgia on Old River Road, is a surviving example of the state’s 19th-century covered road bridges. Built in 1883 by J.W. Baughman, it consists of two 54-foot spans supported by three abutments, creating a crossing in two covered sections rather than one continuous span. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976, it remains an important piece of local transportation history and reflects the period when covered bridges served as both practical rural infrastructure and distinctive landmarks.
