Wisconsin Point Light stands at the harbor entrance between Superior, Wisconsin, and Duluth on a long Lake Superior sand bar that helps protect one of the safest harbors on the Great Lakes. Rising 70 feet above the south breakwater, it marks the Wisconsin side of the opening from Superior Bay and the Saint Louis River system to the lake and remains an active aid to navigation. Also known in federal records as the South Breakwater Light, it once used a Fresnel lens made in Paris in 1890 before that was replaced by a DCB-224 aero beacon. The station was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.
