History
1
The Albee House, built in 1878, was the home of Harry and Myrtle Albee, whose family lived there until 1942, when Myrtle Albee offered the house and its contents to the Blue Island Woman's Club. Although she was never a member, she had long taken an interest in the club's activities. The organization began as the Current Topics Club on October 20, 1890, and in 1925 its name was changed to the Blue Island Woman's Club. The women of the club continued their community service and philanthropic work until 2003, when its members donated the house to the Blue Island Historical Society.
