The Cash Home
Pop Culture
13
Referred to as "nature's house," the Cash Home was designed by builder Braxton Dixon with open rafters, barn boards, and a wall of native limestone that gave it a rugged beauty. The 14,000 square foot home overlooked Old Hickory Lake with panoramic views and gardens stretching across the property. For 35 years, Johnny and June Carter Cash entertained family, friends, and neighbors there, and it also served as a retreat where fellow musicians gathered and composed music together until the 2003 deaths of Johnny and June Carter Cash.
