The 10th Mountain Division fought in World War II in Italy and the Aleutian Islands, where 990 of its comrades gave their lives. Its campaigns included the Northern Apennine Mountains, the Po Valley, and Kiska, and its major battles included Riva Ridge, Mt. Della Spe, Mt. Della Torraccia, Mt. Grande, Mt. Belvedere, Mt. Della Castellana, Mt. Moscoso, the Po River, and Lake Garda. Division units included the 85th, 86th, and 87th Mountain Infantry Regiments; the 604th, 605th, and 616th Mountain Artillery Battalions; the 10th Mountain Anti-Tank Battalion; the 110th Mountain Signal Company; HQ & HQ Btry 10th Mountain Div Arty; the 10th Mountain Quartermaster Battalion; the 10th Mountain Medical Battalion; HQ & HQ Co 10th Mountain Division; the 126th Mountain Engineer Battalion; the 10th Mountain Military Police Pltn; the 10th Mountain Cavalry Recon Troop; and the 710th Mountain Ordnance Company. The division trained at Camp Hale, Colorado, in 1942, 1943, and 1944. Its Roll of Honor now includes 1000 names, including two unknowns, after more were added in 2009.
