The dead honored here were remembered as comrades buried in unknown graves: Henry R. Coffin, Charles Bloom, John Chapman of Company G, 2d Regiment Wisconsin Volunteers; Clovis V. Bushnell of Company B, 40th Regiment Wisconsin Volunteers; Walter Purvis of Company F, 18th Regiment Wisconsin Volunteers; Volney Carpenter and Girard Dey of Company D, 19th Regiment Wisconsin Volunteers; Robert R. Williams of Company G, 23d Regiment Wisconsin Volunteers; David H. Everson of Company A, 32d Regiment Wisconsin Volunteers; Lyman E. Ellis of Company I, 47th Regiment Wisconsin Volunteers; Samuel Leonard, Band, 8th Regiment Wisconsin Volunteers; George W. Rouse, Lanson A. Bull, James Dickson, H. Curtis Luther, Marcus M. Parmenter, and Andrew H. Parmenter of Company D, 10th Regiment Wisconsin Volunteers; Peter Montier of Company D, 10th Wisconsin; and James Logue of Company E, 2nd Cavalry. The tribute declared that these soldiers were not forgotten and would be met again, and it was erected in May 1894 by the soldiers and citizens of Wyocena.
