Crabtree Ledge Light stood on Frenchman Bay in Maine, about a mile off Crabtree Neck at the bay’s north end. Built as a sparkplug lighthouse, it took the form of a brown conical tower rising from a black cylindrical pier. The light was established in 1890 and served mariners until its deactivation in 1933. Its name also carried forward an older local story, since both Crabtree Ledge and Crabtree Neck were named for Captain Agreen Crabtree, an American privateer and the first settler of Hancock.
