Chief Justice Catherine D. "Kitty" Kimball began her judicial career as the first female elected to the 18th Judicial District Court. Affectionally known to many as "Kitty," she became one of Louisiana's most prominent servant-leaders, inspiring and mentoring many within and outside the legal profession. Her distinguished career included becoming the first woman ever elected to Louisiana's Supreme Court and eventually the first woman to serve as Chief Justice. Her barrier-breaking accomplishments helped transform Louisiana's justice system, and her most cherished work centered on juvenile justice and upholding the overall integrity of the judiciary. She and her husband, former State Representative Clyde W. Kimball, were elected to serve the people of Pointe Coupée Parish and the State of Louisiana, and they are the parents of three children, Kevin Hudson Kimball, Catherine Kimball Leggio, and Lyria Kimball O'Brien.
