Paintsville Lake State Park in Kentucky, just west of Paintsville, centers on the 1,139-acre Paintsville Lake, while the park itself covers 242 acres and reaches into parts of Morgan County through the lake. It serves as a regional recreation destination with boating access, a four-lane launch ramp, campgrounds, picnic shelters, a playground, an amphitheater, a restaurant, a marina, and the Kiwanis Trail, a National Recreation Trail. Its distinctive Mountain Homeplace recreates a small eastern Kentucky farming community from 1850 to 1900. The park also connects to a 12,103-acre wildlife management area, linking recreation with the surrounding natural landscape.
