On December 22, 1930, the Lyndon F. Murray Memorial Building was dedicated as a municipal building and Fire Station #1. Its first floor contained a two-bay fire station, a small assembly room, and kitchen facilities, while the second floor housed the community hall. Part of the building was also used as a library and for school classrooms. It was later rededicated in memory of Lyndon F. Murray, the first fireman to die in the line of duty while fighting a fire on February 19, 1964, and the building was dedicated to his memory on June 14, 1964.
