The Mendon Twin Drive-In in Mendon, Massachusetts, is one of the state’s few surviving drive-in movie theaters and an increasingly rare example of outdoor cinema in New England. Opened on June 14, 1954, it could accommodate 800 cars, reflecting the scale of drive-in moviegoing in the mid-20th century. A second screen was added in 1998, and the theater now uses FM radio broadcasts for sound instead of pole-mounted speakers. Operated for many years by Susan Swanson and Kathy Gorman, it was purchased in 2014 by Dan, Dave, and Michael Andelman, whose ownership added new amenities while keeping the seasonal venue in operation.
