Brenton Arboretum is a 141-acre public garden and arboretum in Dallas Center, Iowa, established in 1997 on land from the Brenton family’s original Home Farm. Founded by Sue and J.C. “Buz” Brenton and their children, it features more than 2,600 trees and shrubs, including 175 native Iowa species suited to central Iowa. The grounds blend formal plant collections with a natural landscape of lake, pond, wetlands, streams, prairies, wildflowers, paths, bridges, and a small library. Its importance rests in combining horticultural display, prairie restoration, and the history of a family property that dates to 1853.
